Step Back in Time at The Weston, Vermont’s Colonial-Inspired Countryside Retreat

Hotel Snapshot

Hidden in the hills, The Weston offers an escape from everything, including the 21st century.

The small yet luxurious countryside getaway welcomes guests into a time machine, transporting travelers back to a cozy colonial retreat.

Spearheaded by the legacy Sharp family—known for iconic hotels like the Carlyle, Gramercy Park Hotel, and the Beverly Hills Wilshire—this spot exudes legacy, despite being the newest hotel opening. It easily fits into the portfolio as the aristocratic grandparents of them all.

Design & Character

Set against the backdrop of Vermont’s Green Mountains, the property artfully blends refined luxury, historic charm, and serene rural elegance. The rooms seep sophisticated country comforts.

The Weston evokes the timeless grace of a quaint English-American manor. Antiques, William Morris wallpaper, hand-painted walls, and 18th-century art pieces—many of which were pulled from the owners’ collection—create a lived-in, curated ambiance.

The Rooms

The five rooms and four luxury suites are nestled within two meticulously restored farmhouses. Each room has its unique design, making guests feel as if they’re staying at a wealthy family member’s estate. The hand-carved four-poster beds are set in the center of the beautifully designed, sun-drenched room.

Suites blend warmth—fireplaces in each room have set timers to allow you to doze off in the glow of the embers during the winter months—with sophistication in both the bedrooms and sitting rooms.

The Food & Drink Situation

The newly added regenerative farm marks Vermont’s first of its kind. The Farm includes a year-round heated greenhouse and outdoor cultivation space on the 600-acre estate, growing produce, some of which is rarely seen in Vermont’s farm-to-table servings.

Fresh produce is harvested daily and used at The Left Bank, the French-inspired bistro seating guests and locals on the first floor of the main building for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The restaurant’s celebrated wine program emphasizes rare, artisanal producers complemented by an extensive “By the Glass” list and exclusive private dining in The Left Bank’s world-class wine room.

Amenities

Walk-in showers, soaking tubs, Lefroy Brooks hardware, and Natura Bisse amenities ensure every detail reflects quiet opulence. Select rooms offer private decks for outdoor dining and in-suite meals enjoyed amid the peaceful quiet of the surrounding nature.

The fire pit and chairs placed in the yard allow for s’mores, campfire stories, or a mindful meditation at any point during the year. When the air warms up, guests can play on the bocce and croquet courts.

Spa & Wellness Scoop

The peace and serenity of being surrounded by nature are sure to improve your well-being alone.

But those who want an extra boost can visit Le Spa—which offers several options of facials and massages—the steam room, sauna, yoga studio—available for private sessions—and/or fitness center, which are all housed in the same on-property building.

Location & Neighborhood Recs

Weston, Vermont, is home to just under 100 people. The boutique hotel is named after the little town where it’s nestled in the Green Mountain National Forest, about halfway between popular ski mountains Okemo and Stratton.

Sitting on central historic Main Street, the hotel is a short walk to the Village Green, home to the town’s local playhouse, library, two historical museums, and several artisanal shops, including the popular Vermont Country Store.

Those who want to purchase higher-end products can pop over to the neighboring town to stroll around the Manchester Designer Outlets. Visitors seeking a unique item can purchase or create one at Manchester Hot Glass' glassblowing studio.

And history buffs who want to continue the feeling of stepping back in time can enjoy the beautiful 40-minute drive to the Lincoln Hildene Family Home. It first housed Robert Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood. It remained home to the former president’s descendants until 1975, longer than any other Lincoln residence.
