Design & Character
Tucked behind Main Street, the boutique property spans two manicured acres and feels like its own suspended pocket of time: calm, charming, and quietly exceptional. There’s no dramatic check-in here, just a warm smile, freshly baked cookies, and the sense that the person welcoming you already knows exactly who you are.
The Rooms
With just 14 rooms and suites—including five freestanding cottages and the private Beach House once owned by playwright Neil Simon—The Roundtree is intentionally small. I stayed in Cottage 5, which felt design-forward without trying too hard: Grown Alchemist products in the bathroom, a curated minibar stocked with local snacks and juices, cloud-soft bedding, and a Nespresso. Every touch was thoughtful, never performative, and the bed granted me one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in years.
Food & Drink
Mornings begin with breakfast brought to your room or served beneath the garden trees: flaky croissants, ripe berries, fresh orange juice, and strong coffee. Il Buco al Mare, just two minutes away, doubles as the in-room dining partner and feels like an extension of the property. For a casual bite, Rosie’s is another great nearby option.
The Amenities
This is the kind of place that reminds you how much noise you’ve been tuning out. No oversized lobby, branded spa, or sceney restaurant—just hydrangeas, hammocks, cozy lawn couches, and Adirondack chairs around a bonfire that feels like it’s been there for decades. A restored century-old barn anchors the landscape, where string lights flicker overhead and couples, both familiar and famous, gather by the fire pit with a bottle of red and a tray of s’mores.
What makes it truly special is the service: quietly precise, never overbearing. An umbrella appears before it rains; turndown service happens while you stroll the beach. This, to me, is true luxury.
The Roundtree is family- and pet-friendly, yet it maintains a peacefulness that suits couples, solo travelers, or even company retreats, offering privacy and space without sacrificing warmth.
Location & Neighborhood
You might hop on one of the hotel’s beach cruisers, where they’ll pack you a tote, handle your chairs, and beach pass. Or instead, you can walk to lunch in town and do some shopping around at boutiques. Regardless of the choice, bicycles are lined up on the gravel for guests to take wherever their hearts desire.
But truthfully, you don’t need to leave much. The Roundtree has mastered the art of giving guests just the right amount. Enough comfort, space, and stillness—to make everything else feel optional.
The Final Word
The Roundtree doesn’t lean on Hamptons clichés. There’s no flash for the sake of it, just immaculate attention to detail, thoughtful service, and the rare feeling of being completely cared for. By the time you leave, you’re rested—not because you escaped your life, but because you returned to yourself.

Any personal neighbourhood recs? It’s tempting to stay on property forever, but a night at Stephen Talkhouse after a slow dinner at Rosie’s or Il Buco is worth venturing out for.
