Hotel Snapshot
Rome has plenty of polished perches, from the designer shops at the base of the Spanish Steps to swank rooftop bars. But, for us (and the well-dressed guests who check in), there is no more glamorous address in the Eternal City than Bvlgari Hotel Roma, overlooking the Mausoleum of Augustus and the Ara Pacis. A favorite of stylish jetsetters (including many brand loyalists) and Romans in need of a posh staycation, it’s a five-star stunner where every detail speaks to Roman refinement and sophistication, with a whisper of opulence.
Design & Character
The Italian architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel led the restoration of the 1930s building, turning it into an unsurpassed base for a Roman holiday. The interiors epitomize Italian glamour. Not to be confused with grandeur and the antithesis of gaudy. The hotel is nothing if not elegantly restrained. It’s luxury without the labels (well, of course, for the actual diamond-dripping jeweler). It’s a lot of marble and ochre travertine. Everything feels crisp and immaculate. There’s a rotating collection of modern and antique art—and even framed vintage Bvglari ads. Not that travelers familiar with the brand would expect anything less from the house that launched the now famous Serpenti collection.
The Rooms
Sumptuous. Tailored. Understated. All 110 rooms and suites are decorated in a plush palette of neutrals and high-end materials. Marble bathrooms reflect Emperor Augustus’s fondness for the noble stone and have dual vanities, rainfall showers, and giant soaking tubs.
Food & Drink
Il Caffé is an all-day café for breakfast or afternoon tea on the plant-framed outdoor seating area under the porticos of Piazza Augusto Imperatore. Reserved for hotel guests, the Lobby Lounge provides an exclusive respite to take a load off (presumably that entails dropping designer shopping bags) or take a spritz break in between sightseeing. For a sweet treat, Italy’s first Bvlgari Dolci chocolatier and patisserie also sits on the ground floor.
Three-Michelin-star chef and regular Bvlgari collaborator, Niko Romito, approaches Italian cuisine with an innovative, contemporary lens at Il Ristorante - Niko Romito. Located on the fifth floor, the restaurant has an art-filled mahogany dining room and a large terrace with views of the Mausoleum of Augustus.
The cocktails at Bvlgari Bar are exceptional, but it's the design-forward ambiance that steals the spotlight—the black marble bar top is crowned by hand-blown, gold-dusted Murano glass twirls. La Terrazza, the spectacular rooftop, beckons with its pergolas and priceless vistas, whether you’re in the mood for sunshine and spritzes, sundowners overlooking the Roman skyline, or a digestif underneath the night sky, Fans of bubbly can steal away to the Champagne Bar to sip the best vintages of Dom Pérignon from the special trolley against a backdrop of pine-studded Roman garden murals and Bonacina 1889 wicker furniture.
Amenities
Everything about Bvlgari Hotel Roma is impeccably executed with extraordinary attention to detail. Luxurious amenities include the spa and guest-only lounge. But there are also lavish little touches such as a self-serve candy bar at check-in, Bvlgari products in the bathrooms (would you expect anything less?), and a first-class concierge team to snag coveted reservations, coordinate exclusive experiences like behind-the-scenes art tours, and handle anything guests need and want while in Rome.
Spa & Wellness Scoop
The full-service Bvlgari Spa draws inspiration from the ancient Roman Baths of Caracalla. The enormous indoor swimming pool is punctuated by ribbed arabesque marble columns and glimmering mosaics. There are eight treatment rooms for Augustinus Bader facials and IonixLight therapy, plus a glorious spa suite with side-by-side beds (couples massage, anyone?) and a green onyx bath. The gym, developed in partnership with Technogym, leverages cutting-edge tech for wellness assessments, personalized AI training programs, and on-demand workouts
Location & Neighborhood Recs
Situated in the heart of the Campo Marzio neighborhood, Bvlgari Hotel Roma is just a few minutes’ walk from the Spanish Steps, Via del Corso, and high-end fashion houses—including the Bvlgari flagship—on Via Condotti. If you’re hungry and have already devoured all the on-site options or want something a bit more casual, meander over to La Vita è Un Mozzico for the best porchetta sandwich in the city.
